As the areas of professional practice for speech-language pathologists are rapidly expanding, so are the types of clients they are expected to serve. Some common environments for employment include working with students in schools, or in hospitals or other health care facilities.
Professional Associations
Various professional organizations are available to those who choose speech-language pathology as a career including the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA), the National Student Speech-Language Hearing Association (NSSLHA), as well as many state-based organizations.
